Uno Minda to Invest Rs 550 Crore in New EV Powertrain Plant

In order to establish a new greenfield manufacturing plant for cutting-edge electric vehicle powertrain items in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Uno Minda has announced an investment of Rs 550 crore.
Electric Drive Units (EDU) and Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) systems for passenger cars will be produced and assembled at the factory, which will be built by its subsidiary Uno Minda Auto Innovations Private Limited (UMAIPL). A combination of loan and equity will be used to finance the project, with capital expenditures spread out over the following two years.
The facility is the company’s second EV powertrain plant announcement, following its existing Pune project set for H2 FY27. It is anticipated to start operations by Q2 FY28.
According to Managing Director Ravi Mehra, the growth is a reflection of the company’s dedication to promoting domestic automotive innovation and localizing high-voltage EV powertrain technologies in India.
With consolidated revenue up 17% to Rs 19,589 crore and profit after taxes up 24% to Rs 1,166 crore, Uno Minda also recorded a robust financial performance for FY26.
