Adani Enterprises has entered a long-term partnership with French clean-technology company Dioxycle to develop low-carbon chemical manufacturing in India, beginning with a pilot project that will convert captured carbon dioxide into formic acid using renewable electricity.

Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL) and France-based clean-technology company Dioxycle have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing low-carbon chemical production in India, marking the Adani Group’s entry into the emerging low-carbon chemicals sector.

The partnership will initially establish a pilot facility at an Adani Group site to manufacture formic acid using captured carbon dioxide and renewable power. The companies said the project will serve as a demonstration of technology that converts industrial carbon emissions into commercially useful chemicals. Subject to successful validation, the initiative is expected to expand into commercial-scale manufacturing.

Formic acid and its derivatives are widely used across industries such as textiles, agriculture and manufacturing. The partners aim to demonstrate that carbon captured from industrial processes can be transformed into valuable products while relying on clean energy sources.

The collaboration combines Dioxycle’s electrically driven chemical production technology with Adani Group’s renewable energy capabilities, industrial infrastructure and project execution expertise. According to the companies, the model is intended to support cost-competitive and lower-emission chemical manufacturing.

Adani Group Director Jeet Adani said the pilot project would be India’s first formic acid production facility powered entirely by renewable electricity and captured carbon, adding that the partnership reflects efforts to convert carbon emissions into productive industrial resources.

Dioxycle Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Dr. Sarah Lamaison said the collaboration brings together clean technology and industrial-scale capabilities to reshape the production of essential chemicals. She noted that India’s manufacturing capacity, renewable energy resources and industrial ambitions make it well suited for scaling such technologies.

Beyond the initial formic acid project, the two companies plan to explore the production of additional chemicals used in sectors including energy, packaging, materials and manufacturing, where fossil-based feedstocks remain common.

The partnership also reflects growing cooperation between India and Europe in clean technologies and aligns with broader efforts to expand sustainable manufacturing and reduce industrial emissions in India.
