New Delhi, India: CHEMCONNECT 2026, a one-day industry-academia event, will be held at IIT Madras to connect companies with technologies, prototypes and patents developed through the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals’ Centres of Excellence.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Student Activity Centre (SAC) Hall, IIT Madras, and is being jointly organised by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and IIT Madras. The initiative is intended to facilitate collaboration with the 18 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) established by the department.
CHEMCONNECT 2026 is being organised by the Centre of Excellence in Biodegradable Packaging Materials (CoE BioPack) and the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Madras, in collaboration with CIPET.
The event is structured as an inventors-and-industry meeting, allowing researchers and companies to engage directly without intermediaries. Industry representatives, start-ups and MSMEs will have an opportunity to interact with researchers working on technologies developed under the Centres of Excellence programme.
The platform is also expected to bring together researchers, policymakers, incubators and investors looking for potential partnerships. The focus is on moving research outcomes beyond academic settings and exploring opportunities for commercial applications.
Technologies, prototypes and patents developed by the Centres of Excellence established under the DCPC’s “Setting up of Centres of Excellence (CoE) in the field of Chemicals and Petrochemicals” scheme will be presented during the event.
Principal Investigators from the participating Centres of Excellence will showcase their work at dedicated stalls. They will also engage directly with industry representatives to discuss possible collaboration, licensing and technology transfer opportunities.
The format places the emphasis on direct interaction between those developing new technologies and businesses that could potentially adopt or commercialise them. For start-ups and MSMEs, such interactions can provide a route to assess technologies developed within academic institutions and explore potential partnerships.
For the participating Centres of Excellence, the event provides an opportunity to present their research and intellectual property to industry stakeholders in a setting focused specifically on commercialisation.
CHEMCONNECT 2026 therefore brings together government, academia and industry around a common objective: creating practical pathways for technologies and intellectual property developed through the chemical and petrochemical research ecosystem to reach commercial applications.
