Airtel Expands Network Coverage to Support Amarnath Yatra

Jammu/ Srinagar: Bharti Airtel has strengthened its mobile network across key stretches of the Amarnath Yatra route, expanding coverage to improve communication for pilgrims, security personnel and local authorities during the annual pilgrimage.

Bharti Airtel has announced a significant expansion of its telecom infrastructure along the Amarnath Yatra route, reinforcing network availability across some of the region’s most challenging terrains. The latest deployment extends connectivity along the Pahalgam route while complementing the company’s existing network presence at Baltal, ensuring broader communication coverage leading up to the holy cave shrine.

As part of the rollout, Airtel has installed new network sites at Chandanwari, Pissu Top and Betaab Valley. The expansion was carried out in coordination with government agencies and local authorities to strengthen communication infrastructure during one of India’s largest annual pilgrimages. The enhanced network is expected to support reliable voice and data services while improving digital access throughout the journey.

The improved connectivity is designed to benefit not only the millions of pilgrims travelling to the shrine but also security personnel and administrative teams responsible for managing the Yatra. Stable mobile services are expected to support routine communication, emergency response efforts and digital access across key sections of the pilgrimage route.

Commenting on the initiative, Vikram RS, Chief Operating Officer for Jammu & Kashmir at Bharti Airtel, said the expansion reflects the company’s continued investment in the region and its commitment to keeping pilgrims, authorities and emergency services connected throughout the pilgrimage season.

The latest deployment adds to Airtel’s broader efforts to strengthen connectivity in geographically demanding locations across India. By extending mobile coverage across both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, the company aims to improve communication resilience during the Yatra while supporting essential services in the region.
