Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will deploy its BaNCS for Treasury platform at Indian Bank’s Colombo branch, marking the technology product’s entry into Sri Lanka. The move extends the companies’ existing partnership and aims to modernise the bank’s overseas treasury operations.
Announced on October 19, 2026, the deployment follows the platform’s implementation across Indian Bank’s operations in India and at GIFT City in Gujarat. The Colombo rollout is intended to bring the bank’s treasury activities across different locations onto a more unified technology system.
The platform will support treasury functions covering money markets, investment management and foreign exchange. It is designed to give the branch a consolidated view of financial positions, liquidity, currency exposures and transaction limits, helping treasury teams monitor market risks more closely.
The system will also integrate deal processing and reporting, with the aim of reducing manual work and improving straight-through processing. TCS said the platform would strengthen risk controls and support audit and regulatory reporting requirements.
For Indian Bank’s Sri Lankan operations, the deployment is expected to improve visibility into foreign-exchange and market exposures, while supporting faster transaction execution and settlement. Consolidated information across instruments and currencies is also intended to help treasury teams make more informed operational decisions.
S Viswanathan, chief executive of Indian Bank’s Sri Lanka operations, said the branch needed a system capable of supporting growth while improving control, transparency and operational flexibility. He noted that the platform had already been used in the bank’s Indian operations and at GIFT City.
Venkateshwaran Srinivasan, global head of financial solutions at TCS, said the project would help the bank modernise its overseas treasury activities and manage changing market conditions.
TCS will oversee deployment and ongoing maintenance, including integration with the bank’s existing systems and international market infrastructure.
The agreement represents an expansion of TCS BaNCS for Treasury into a new national market.
