Kolkata, India: Vikram Solar has rolled out the first solar module from its newly commissioned manufacturing mega-facility at Gangaikondan in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant expansion of its domestic manufacturing capacity. The milestone strengthens the company’s integrated manufacturing strategy and supports India’s growing clean energy ambitions.

The company announced that commercial production has begun at its latest manufacturing unit in Gangaikondan, Tamil Nadu, where the first solar module has successfully come off the production line. The development represents an important step in Vikram Solar’s ongoing efforts to expand advanced solar manufacturing capabilities within India.

The newly operational facility has been designed as a next-generation manufacturing plant equipped with advanced automation and digital production technologies. According to the company, the factory integrates intelligent manufacturing systems to improve production efficiency, maintain consistent quality standards and enhance operational reliability across the manufacturing process.

Production at the facility has commenced with Hypersol N-Type TOPCon G12R solar modules, offering a power output ranging from 615 Wp to 640 Wp and module efficiencies of up to 23.69%. These high-performance modules are intended to meet the growing demand for advanced solar technologies across utility-scale and commercial renewable energy projects.

Spread across nearly six lakh square feet, the Gangaikondan plant is also expected to contribute to regional economic development by creating employment opportunities for more than 1,500 skilled professionals. The facility forms a key part of Vikram Solar’s long-term manufacturing roadmap and reinforces its focus on expanding domestic production capabilities.

The commissioning follows the company’s recent milestone of surpassing 10 GW in cumulative global module deployments, reflecting increasing demand for its solar products across domestic and international markets. Vikram Solar said the new manufacturing unit supports its broader vision of building an integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem while preparing for future capacity expansion across modules, cells, wafers and ingots.

With the latest facility now operational, the company aims to strengthen its contribution to India’s renewable energy sector and support the country’s drive toward greater self-reliance in clean energy manufacturing. The rollout of the first module marks the beginning of commercial operations at one of Vikram Solar’s most technologically advanced production facilities to date.
