New Delhi, India: The fifth edition of SEMICON India will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, bringing together semiconductor companies, policymakers, researchers, startups and industry professionals from India and overseas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event on September 17. Organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and SEMI, the three-day conference and exhibition will focus on the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”

The event comes as India expands its semiconductor manufacturing and design capabilities under the Semicon India Programme. Twelve projects have been approved under Semicon 1.0, with three already having commenced commercial production. The Union Cabinet has also approved Semicon 2.0 as the next phase of the programme.

More than 500 exhibitors are expected to participate, including over 240 international companies. The exhibition will feature more than 150 international speakers, delegations from over 40 countries and more than 15,000 square metres of exhibition space. Six country pavilions and 10 state government pavilions are also planned, along with dedicated platforms for startups, innovation and workforce development.

Conference sessions will cover semiconductor manufacturing and technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, supply chains, chemicals and materials, government programmes, sustainability, product design, startups, talent development and market development. The programme will also include six international country roundtables and sessions focused on women’s leadership and workforce development.

According to ISM, global semiconductor demand is expected to rise from around $1 trillion to $2 trillion, while India’s requirement is projected to increase from approximately $100 billion to $200 billion.

The event will also feature representatives from major global and Indian companies, including ASML, Applied Materials, Infineon, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Lam Research, CG Power and Tokyo Electron.
