AI coding platform Cursor has introduced a new India-exclusive subscription called Cursor Start, offering local pricing and access to its AI-powered development tools for ₹649 per month as the company expands its presence in one of its fastest-growing developer markets.
Cursor announced that India is the first country to receive a dedicated regional pricing model, with the new Start plan positioned between the company’s free offering and its global Pro subscription. The monthly plan is priced at ₹649, inclusive of taxes, and supports payments through UPI and cards.
The subscription provides developers with access to Cursor’s AI capabilities, including Grok 4.5 and Composer, along with always-on cloud agents that can build, test and ship code in the background while users continue working on other tasks. The plan also includes access to Cursor for iOS, allowing developers to monitor and manage coding agents remotely from their mobile devices.
In addition, subscribers can use plugins, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, hooks and skills to extend Cursor across existing software development workflows. According to the company, the package is designed to provide enough daily AI usage for developers building with coding agents.
However, the India-specific plan differs from the company’s higher-tier Pro offering. Cursor Start does not include access to AI models from OpenAI or Anthropic, focusing instead on Cursor’s supported models available within the subscription.
Existing free users in India can upgrade directly through their account dashboard, while new users can select the Start plan during the onboarding process. The subscription is available from July 28, 2026, with automatic monthly renewal.
The launch highlights India’s growing importance in Cursor’s global strategy as demand for AI-assisted software development continues to rise. By introducing localized pricing and payment options, the company aims to make agentic coding tools more accessible to India’s large and rapidly expanding developer community.
