Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh: Adani Defence & Aerospace has announced a ₹2,500 crore investment to establish South Asia’s largest private-sector missile manufacturing ecosystem in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. The project is expected to strengthen India’s indigenous defence production capabilities while generating around 5,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs.

The new facility will bring together missile system integration, composite propellant manufacturing and Trinitrotoluene (TNT) production at a single location, creating what the company describes as India’s first backward-integrated private-sector missile manufacturing ecosystem of its kind. The integrated approach is expected to reduce dependence on imports while supporting the country’s broader defence self-reliance objectives.

Located in Shivpuri, the project is designed to become a key manufacturing hub for advanced missile systems and related technologies. Besides expanding domestic production capacity, the facility is expected to create opportunities for local suppliers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and skilled professionals across the defence manufacturing value chain.

The investment reinforces Madhya Pradesh’s growing role in India’s defence manufacturing landscape. The project aligns with the country’s focus on strengthening indigenous capabilities under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative and increasing private-sector participation in strategic defence production.

According to Adani Defence & Aerospace, the integrated ecosystem has been planned to support the development and production of advanced missile technologies through a consolidated manufacturing infrastructure. Bringing critical processes together at a single site is expected to improve operational efficiency while creating an end-to-end production ecosystem capable of supporting future defence programmes.

The foundation stone for the project was laid in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, marking the formal launch of the development. State leaders described the investment as an important step toward positioning Shivpuri as a major defence manufacturing destination while contributing to industrial growth and employment generation in the region.

Once operational, the facility is expected to play a significant role in expanding India’s domestic missile manufacturing capabilities and strengthening the country’s position as an emerging defence production hub in South Asia.
