On April 28, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to lay the groundwork for Google’s $15 billion AI data center project in Visakhapatnam.
With a planned capacity of one gigawatt, the hyperscale facility—which will be built on almost 600 acres in Tarluvada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli—would rank among India’s biggest AI data centers. The initiative intends to offer large-scale data storage capabilities and sophisticated AI cloud architecture.
In order to establish Andhra Pradesh as a significant global data hub, the state government plans to construct a larger digital ecosystem of up to 6.5 gigawatts. The program is a component of its “Speed of Doing Business” strategy, which aims to draw significant investments.
In addition to creating a large number of jobs in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data science, the project is anticipated to spur expansion in related industries like server manufacturing, power systems, and cooling technologies.
Visakhapatnam is being positioned as a major technology and AI hub in line with India’s long-term development ambitions thanks to planned facilities including subsea connectivity and Bhogapuram International Airport.
