Micron Reshuffles Senior Leadership as AI Drives Memory Demand

Micron names Manish Bhatia and Scott DeBoer to expanded leadership roles as AI boosts demand for advanced memory and storage products.

Micron Technology has elevated two long-serving executives to expanded leadership positions as the semiconductor company adjusts its organization to growing demand for advanced memory and storage products linked to artificial intelligence.

Effective immediately, Manish Bhatia has been named president and chief operating officer, while Dr. Scott DeBoer becomes president and chief technology and products officer, Micron said on August 26.

Bhatia will oversee the company’s global operations and business units, including capital investment, manufacturing, customer demand, pricing and delivery. His responsibilities will cover Micron’s operating profit and loss, bringing a broad range of operational decisions under his leadership.

DeBoer will take charge of Micron’s memory and storage technology and product roadmap. His responsibilities also include Micron Research Labs, which focuses on research into memory and computing technologies, as the company seeks to respond to changing requirements from customers.

Micron Chairman and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said the appointments are intended to align the company’s leadership structure with the demands of an AI-driven market. He highlighted the contributions of Bhatia and DeBoer to the company’s operations and technology development.

The changes also affect Sumit Sadana, previously executive vice president and chief business officer. Sadana has moved into a new position as senior adviser to the CEO.

Bhatia joined Micron in 2017 and has overseen areas including manufacturing and factory construction, supply chain, procurement, quality, information technology, artificial intelligence and government affairs.

DeBoer has been with Micron since 1995 and has played a central role in its technology and product development. The company said he has led the development and delivery of 15 technology nodes and worked to strengthen technical relationships with customers and suppliers.

Micron said the leadership changes are part of its broader effort to develop its executive team and position the company for opportunities in the memory and storage industry.
