New Delhi, August 10, 2026: Ashok Leyland has entered into a memorandum of understanding with electric commercial vehicle financing company Drivn to provide financing, leasing and fleet ownership options to customers purchasing the automaker’s electric vehicles.
The partnership is aimed at addressing one of the key barriers to wider adoption of electric commercial vehicles: the high initial investment required by businesses to acquire electric trucks and other commercial vehicles. Under the agreement, Drivn will offer customers flexible repayment structures along with financing and leasing arrangements.
The companies said the arrangement will also cover fleet ownership solutions, giving businesses different ways to deploy electric commercial vehicles without bearing the entire upfront cost of acquisition. The model is intended to provide greater flexibility for operators evaluating the shift to electric fleets.
The agreement was signed by Niruban M, Head-Alternate Energy at Ashok Leyland, and Alpna Jain, Chief Business Officer and Co-founder of Drivn.
Ashok Leyland said the partnership forms part of its efforts to expand its electric truck and bus portfolio and support the adoption of zero-emission commercial mobility in India. The company currently has a growing presence in electric commercial vehicles through its wider electrification strategy.
For Drivn, the agreement adds another manufacturer relationship to its focus on financing and leasing electric commercial vehicles. The Gurugram-based company has been building its business around acquiring and leasing electric buses and trucks to operators, while also developing charging infrastructure for commercial EV use.
The tie-up comes as manufacturers and fleet operators look for financing models that can reduce the financial hurdles associated with commercial EV adoption. Unlike passenger vehicles, electric trucks and buses typically involve significantly higher acquisition costs, making access to suitable financing an important consideration for fleet operators.
