Pune, August 11, 2026: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has introduced two new heavy steel plate ranges, STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR, targeting applications across infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, energy, transportation and heavy engineering.
The products have been developed at the company’s plate mill in Hazira, Gujarat, using advanced rolling and heat-treatment processes along with controlled metallurgical and quality checks.
STRUCTROMAX uses Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Processing (TMCP) and is intended for demanding structural applications. The range is positioned for use in bridges, high-rise buildings, offshore projects, railway infrastructure and wind-energy projects, among other heavy-duty applications. According to the company, the plates are designed to provide weldability, toughness, load-bearing strength, corrosion resistance and fabrication performance suited to challenging operating conditions.
WELDSTAR, meanwhile, comprises ultra-high-strength steel plates aimed at equipment and structures where reducing weight can improve operating efficiency. The range is intended for cranes, mining machinery, transportation systems, offshore applications and other critical uses. AM/NS India said the plates can help manufacturers increase payload capacity and improve fuel efficiency while maintaining safety and durability.
Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President – Sales & Marketing at AM/NS India, said the two ranges were developed in response to the increasing demand for stronger and more efficient steel solutions as infrastructure and manufacturing projects become more complex.
The company also said its heavy plate products have received a three-star Green Steel certification under the Ministry of Steel’s Green Steel Taxonomy. Introduced in December 2024, the framework rates steel products according to carbon emissions per tonne of finished steel.
The launch expands AM/NS India’s heavy plate portfolio and adds products aimed at applications ranging from large infrastructure projects to specialised industrial equipment.
