Ahemdabad, India: Adani Power has improved its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) score to 66 in the latest assessment by NSE Sustainability, up from 65 in FY26, while continuing to remain in the “Aspiring” category.
The company announced the assessment on September 7, 2026, stating that it continues to rank above other major Indian thermal, mixed-fuel and integrated energy companies evaluated under the assessment.
NSE Sustainability, a subsidiary of NSE Indices and part of the National Stock Exchange of India Group, is a SEBI-registered ESG Rating Provider. Its annual assessment covers 500 listed companies in India and provides investors and stakeholders with an independent evaluation of ESG performance and long-term value creation potential.
Adani Power said its environmental initiatives include the use of Ultra-Supercritical Units and continuous monitoring and corrective systems aimed at reducing emissions. The company has also focused on energy efficiency, water conservation and responsible waste disposal across its operations.
On the social front, the company highlighted community programmes focused on education, healthcare and skill development. These include scholarships for underprivileged students, health camps and livelihood enhancement initiatives.
The company also reported governance practices that it said exceed applicable regulatory requirements. These include higher independent-director representation in its Nomination and Remuneration Committee and Audit Committee, along with independent-director representation in its Risk Management Committee above the prescribed threshold.
Adani Power has also introduced ESG standards for suppliers and contractors, extending sustainability requirements across its value chain.
The latest NSE Sustainability assessment follows other ESG evaluations cited by the company. Adani Power said it received a 71/100 score from S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, a 4.3/5.0 FTSE Russell ESG rating, and an 80/100 CareEdge ESG rating for FY26, where it was placed in the “Leadership” category.
