Elgi Equipments has introduced an updated version of its AB Series oil-free screw air compressors at drinktec India 2026 in Mumbai, highlighting improvements in energy consumption, water management and equipment monitoring for industries with strict air-quality requirements.
Unveiled on October 28, the updated range builds on the AB Series, first launched globally in 2019. The compressors use water-injected technology to produce ISO 8573 Class 0 oil-free compressed air, making them suitable for applications in food processing, beverages, dairy and pharmaceuticals, where oil contamination can affect product quality.
ELGi said the latest improvements include changes to motor performance, airend efficiency and overall package design. Under the company’s stated comparison conditions, the updated series records 5–6% better specific power consumption. Its assessment also indicates a potential lifecycle-cost benefit of up to 13% over 40,000 operating hours, based on acquisition, electricity and maintenance costs. Actual results may vary according to operating conditions and installation.
The system uses a closed-loop water circuit in which water circulates during compression, with condensate used for automatic replenishment. According to the company, this arrangement removes the need for a continuous external water supply, as well as an external reverse-osmosis system and water pump associated with the circuit.
The updated compressors also feature ELGi’s Neuron 4 controller and Air~Alert, an internet-connected monitoring solution that tracks operating conditions and maintenance requirements. A five-year warranty applies to key components, subject to the company’s terms and conditions.
The AB Series is available in power ratings from 11 kW to 110 kW, with free air delivery ranging from 29 to 560 cfm and operating pressures between 4.5 and 12 bar.
ELGi is showcasing the range at drinktec India, being held from October 28 to 30 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. The company said the compressors would be available across its global markets.
The launch comes as manufacturers in food and beverage production face the combined demands of maintaining product quality, controlling energy use and managing operating costs. The updated range is designed to address these requirements through oil-free air delivery and resource-efficient operation.
