NIELIT, Intel Launch Agentic AI Skilling Programmes Across India

NIELIT and Intel India have launched two Agentic AI skilling programmes aimed at preparing students, educators and professionals for an evolving workplace where AI systems can reason, plan and execute tasks under human oversight.

The programmes were launched following a National Leadership Dialogue on “Preparing the Future Workforce for the Agentic AI Era”, organised by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with Intel India at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The dialogue brought together representatives from government, foreign embassies, academia, industry and the skilling ecosystem to discuss how the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence could affect education, employment and workforce development in India.

Discussions focused on changing skill requirements, industry-aligned curricula, experiential learning, faculty readiness, AI-enabled learning environments and stronger cooperation between government, educational institutions and industry.

The initiative comes as AI moves beyond predictive and generative applications towards Agentic AI, which the ministry describes as systems capable of reasoning, planning and executing complex tasks while operating under human oversight. This shift is creating new requirements for both technical abilities and human skills such as adaptability and judgement.

The newly launched NIELIT–Intel India Agentic AI Skilling Initiative will provide industry-aligned learning opportunities through two programmes.

The first, Agentic AI for Everyone, introduces learners to workflow automation, AI agents and multi-agent systems. It includes practical exposure to designing and governing AI-powered workflows and agentic systems through no-code platforms.

The second programme, Engineering Agentic AI Systems, is focused on the design, development and deployment of AI-powered agentic systems. Training covers no-code and low-code platforms as well as code-based frameworks, with topics including agent architecture, tool integration, orchestration, memory and deployment.

NIELIT Director General Dr. M. M. Tripathi said the collaboration combines NIELIT’s nationwide skilling reach with Intel’s technology expertise and industry perspective, with the aim of taking Agentic AI learning closer to institutions and learners across India.

The dialogue also highlighted the government’s focus on developing a strong AI talent pipeline. Sudeep Shrivastava, COO of the IndiaAI Mission and Joint Secretary, MeitY, stressed the role of industry-led training, AI-focused educational programmes, AI Data Labs and industry-academia partnerships in providing practical exposure to emerging technologies.

The initiative is intended to expand access to practical Agentic AI learning and strengthen collaboration between government, academia and industry as India’s workforce adapts to the next phase of AI development.
