Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Jio-bp have partnered to integrate their electric vehicle charging networks, giving EV users access to more charging points across India through a single digital platform.
The partnership, announced in Gurugram on August 25, will add more than 7,000 Jio-bp pulse charging points across over 300 cities to the network available through Hyundai’s myHyundai app. This will take the charging ecosystem accessible through the platform from more than 30,000 points to over 37,000.
The expanded network includes Jio-bp’s DC fast chargers with capacities ranging from 60 kW to 480 kW. The company said its charging network has an uptime of 96%. A number of its charging stations are located along major national highways, extending charging access for EV users travelling between cities.
The myHyundai app will allow EV users, irrespective of vehicle brand, to discover and use charging points available on its network. Meanwhile, HMIL’s own DC fast-charging infrastructure will gradually be made available through Jio-bp’s pulse charge pro app.
HMIL currently operates 183 proprietary DC fast-charging stations and plans to increase that number to 600 by 2030.
Hyun Sup Lee, Executive Director and Function Head of Corporate Planning at HMIL, said the collaboration would address growing concerns around the availability and reliability of charging infrastructure as electric mobility expands in India.
Jio-bp Chairman Sarthak Behuria said the partnership would bring the company’s charging network and infrastructure to Hyundai customers, while CEO Akshay Wadhwa highlighted the importance of charger reliability for EV users.
The two companies said they will also explore customer-focused offers in the future. The integration marks an expansion of publicly accessible EV charging infrastructure through the two companies’ digital platforms.
