Growing international interest in India’s maritime infrastructure is shown by a Japanese delegation’s interest in increasing shipbuilding and repair operations at Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla.
The group discussed the port’s operational capabilities, infrastructure preparedness, and expansion plan with DPA Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh. The visit is in line with national programs like the National Shipbuilding Mission and the Maritime India Vision, which seek to increase domestic shipbuilding and lessen dependency on foreign repair facilities.
Kandla’s strategic location along the western coast, excellent connectivity, and land availability, according to officials, make it ideal for the establishment of a huge shipyard. In order to evaluate viability and logistics, the delegation also visited some of the suggested zones, including neighboring Veera.
It is anticipated that the planned partnership will draw in capital, create jobs, and strengthen related sectors related to marine services. It also represents larger initiatives under the Make in India campaign to integrate cutting-edge technology and knowledge into India’s port-led industrial ecosystem.
Positive negotiations were reached by both parties, and more talks are probably in store after thorough feasibility analyses.
