As it moves forward with plans to construct its own space station, the Bharatiya Antariksh Space Station (BAS), by 2035, India hopes to deepen space cooperation with Russia. New Delhi is eager to use Russia’s technical know-how in creating crucial technologies for the project, according to a top official from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
ISRO’s Propulsion Complex Director emphasized possible cooperation in crucial areas such control systems, communication, power, and tracking technologies during a speech at a space event in Moscow. Like Russia’s planned Russian Orbital Station (ROS), India’s projected station is anticipated to orbit the Earth at a height of 450 kilometers.
Global space agencies are accelerating plans for next-generation orbiting platforms since the International Space Station is scheduled to be decommissioned in 2030–2031. India’s aspirations may benefit greatly from Russia’s experience with the Mir and ISS.
From the launch of India’s first satellite, Aryabhata, to astronaut training and cryogenic engine assistance, the partnership expands on decades of Indo-Russian space connections. It is anticipated that the BAS project will represent a major advancement in India’s quest for space exploration independence.
