PhonePe has introduced SmartPages, an AI-powered payment page creator integrated into its Payment Gateway platform, allowing merchants to create payment-ready webpages in under 10 minutes without coding or design expertise. The company says the offering is the first AI-driven payment page creation tool of its kind within India’s payment gateway ecosystem.
The new feature is designed to simplify the process of bringing businesses online by removing many of the technical and creative hurdles that small merchants often face. Instead of manually designing webpages or writing product descriptions, sellers can simply describe their product or service in a few sentences. The AI then generates the page layout, creates product copy, identifies the required customer information fields and prepares a mobile-friendly payment page.
Unlike conventional no-code website builders that still require users to configure layouts and content manually, SmartPages automates much of the workflow. The platform also supports multiple Indian languages, enabling merchants to create payment pages that cater to regional audiences without language becoming a barrier.
The payment pages are automatically optimized for both smartphones and desktop devices, ensuring a consistent checkout experience across screens. Since the feature is built directly into the PhonePe Payment Gateway dashboard, merchants can immediately access secure payment processing, multiple payment options and transaction analytics without additional integrations.
Commenting on the launch, Deep Agrawal, Vice President and Head of Payments at PhonePe, said the platform addresses two major challenges faced by independent sellers: the lack of technical resources to build an online presence and the difficulty of creating effective marketing content. He noted that while building a traditional website can take weeks, SmartPages significantly reduces the setup process by using AI to automate most of the work.
PhonePe also outlined its plans to expand SmartPages with more advanced AI capabilities. Future updates are expected to include an AI agent capable of analysing a merchant’s social media presence and previous campaigns to understand brand identity and generate payment pages that better reflect a business’s tone and style.
The launch adds another AI-driven capability to PhonePe’s merchant services portfolio as the company continues to simplify digital commerce tools for businesses of varying sizes.
