Adani Skills & Education (ASE) and Kachchh University have launched a Centre of Excellence for Green Energy at the university campus in Bhuj, Gujarat, with a focus on preparing students for jobs in the region’s expanding renewable energy sector.
The centre, inaugurated on October 4 by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, is expected to train more than 10,000 Kachchh University students each year. Its programmes will cover solar photovoltaic technologies, wind energy systems, hybrid renewable systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and digital and industrial automation.
The initiative comes as renewable energy activity expands across Kutch. According to the release, Adani’s green energy operations in the district have generated more than 21,000 direct and indirect jobs over the past two years, increasing demand for workers with specialised technical skills.
The new facility will combine classroom instruction with simulation-based and practical training. Its learning framework will follow a Learn, Practise, Experience, Certify and Career pathway. Students will also be exposed to areas such as renewable energy integration, BESS, microgrids, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Internet of Things (IoT)-based energy data and smart-grid technologies.
Beyond vocational training, the centre is intended to support applied research and entrepreneurship in green energy. The programme will also provide opportunities for students to gain industry-linked experience and pursue employment in the renewable energy sector closer to their home region.
The development is linked to the broader expansion of renewable energy in India. The release notes that the country is targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030. In Kutch, the Adani Group is developing a 30 GW renewable energy park at Khavda across 538 sq km, creating demand for capabilities spanning solar, wind, energy storage and digital technologies.
Karan Adani, Director of the Adani Group, said the centre is intended to prepare students for emerging opportunities in India and overseas, while ASE CEO Robin Bhowmik highlighted the need to align education with the specialised workforce requirements of the renewable energy industry.
