Logitech has introduced the MX Keypad, a programmable device designed to give software developers physical controls for AI coding tools, development environments and multi-application workflows.
Announced on September 8, the device is designed to work across platforms including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ IDEA. Developers can assign individual keys to applications, commands or combinations of actions, allowing them to create controls tailored to their workflows.
The MX Keypad will launch with native GitHub integration, including support for Visual Studio Code and the GitHub Copilot app. Logitech said the collaboration with GitHub will also allow the device to expand its functionality across additional development tools over time.
Each MX Keypad will include three months of GitHub Copilot Pro+, available to both new and existing users through Logitech’s Logi Options+ software.
The device also supports Logitech’s Logi Actions Software Development Kit, which allows developers to create their own integrations. According to Logitech, community-built plugins are already available for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex through the Logi Marketplace. These integrations can provide features such as agent-status monitoring and command-line controls through the keypad.
The company said the product was developed with input from the GitHub and Logitech MX Collective developer communities. Logitech Vice President and General Manager Anatoliy Polyanker said the device was designed to give developers a physical way to manage increasingly complex AI-assisted coding workflows.
The MX Keypad is being offered in Graphite and Pale Grey. Logitech said the device uses post-consumer recycled plastic, accounting for 64% of the material in the Graphite model and 49% in the Pale Grey version. Its packaging uses paper sourced from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources.
The MX Keypad will be available in select markets from September 8 at $99.99 or €99.99 through Logitech.com.
