Noida, India: HCLTech has announced its entry into the full-stack artificial intelligence market with plans to invest up to ₹3,500 crore in AI-focused data centers. The initiative is designed to strengthen the company’s end-to-end AI capabilities, combining infrastructure, cloud operations, software and managed services to support rising enterprise and government demand for AI-driven solutions.
The proposed investment will support the development of AI data centers with an initial capacity that can scale up to 50 megawatts (MW). HCLTech said the project will be executed through a newly formed subsidiary and its step-down subsidiaries, creating a dedicated business focused on AI infrastructure.
The company is positioning the investment as part of a broader strategy to participate across the complete AI value chain rather than offering standalone technology services. The planned infrastructure will complement HCLTech’s existing expertise in AI data center design, DevOps, AI cloud operations and its software portfolio, enabling integrated AI solutions for customers.
India’s expanding digital economy and increasing demand for localized AI infrastructure have played a key role in the decision. According to HCLTech, growing requirements for data localization, digital sovereignty and GPU-powered computing for AI training and inference are accelerating investment in advanced data center capacity. The company noted that India’s data center capacity is expected to grow from the current 1.8 GW to between 5 GW and 7 GW by 2030, with AI infrastructure expected to account for a significant share of that expansion.
HCLTech’s leadership believes the convergence of AI adoption, infrastructure demand and evolving enterprise requirements presents a significant opportunity for technology providers capable of delivering integrated AI solutions. By combining physical infrastructure with AI software, cloud capabilities and managed services, the company aims to support organizations looking to deploy AI at scale across diverse industries.
The announcement marks a notable expansion of HCLTech’s business portfolio beyond traditional IT services, reflecting the industry’s growing focus on AI-ready infrastructure. As enterprises and governments continue investing in artificial intelligence, the company expects its new AI platform and data center capabilities to strengthen its role in supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
