Samsung has introduced Flex Titanium, a new display technology designed to make foldable smartphones thinner, stronger and more durable. The innovation will debut in the company’s next generation of Galaxy foldable devices, bringing structural improvements aimed at reducing display creases while enhancing long-term reliability.
The newly announced technology builds on Samsung’s experience gained over seven generations of foldable smartphones. Instead of relying on conventional display structures, Flex Titanium combines a titanium-alloy film with a titanium plate beneath the OLED panel, creating a stronger yet slimmer display architecture. The redesigned structure is intended to improve durability without increasing the thickness of the device.
According to Samsung, the titanium-alloy film offers significantly greater mechanical stiffness than traditional polymer materials while remaining extremely thin. This allows the display to better withstand repeated folding and external pressure while maintaining flexibility required for everyday use.
Another key objective of the new design is to minimise the visibility of the crease that naturally forms along the folding area. By improving the internal structure of the display and refining the bonding process between layers, Samsung says the updated design delivers a smoother viewing experience while preserving the slim profile expected from premium foldable smartphones.
The company has also incorporated advanced manufacturing techniques, including lattice patterning and precision laser processing, to strengthen the overall display assembly and improve structural stability. These engineering improvements are designed to distribute stress more evenly across the folding area, helping extend the lifespan of the display.
Samsung noted that the development of Flex Titanium is the result of years of research focused on improving foldable display performance without compromising portability or design.
