Tata Power has commissioned the second element of its Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project in Uttar Pradesh, adding a 162-circuit-kilometre 400kV transmission corridor and a 1,000 MVA substation to strengthen power connectivity across the NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh.

The project has been executed through TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited (TPJKPTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power. The newly commissioned infrastructure includes a 400kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Khurja with Jalpura and a 400/220kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at Jalpura.

The 162 CKM transmission corridor consists of two circuits of approximately 81 kilometres each. It creates a high-voltage connection between Khurja, an important power node in Western Uttar Pradesh, and Jalpura, supporting the movement of electricity towards the NCR and Noida.

The Jalpura substation has a 1,000 MVA transformation capacity and is designed to transfer electricity from the 400kV high-voltage grid to the 220kV network. According to Tata Power, the facility is expected to support rising electricity requirements in the region while improving the reliability, resilience and efficiency of the transmission network.

The commissioning comes as electricity demand continues to grow across the NCR and surrounding areas. The new transmission infrastructure is intended to provide additional capacity and connectivity to support the region’s expanding power requirements.

Tata Power said the project forms part of the infrastructure needed to support the next phase of growth in NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh and contributes to the development of a more robust and future-ready electricity grid.

Following the commissioning, Tata Power’s transmission portfolio stands at 7,900 circuit kilometres of lines operational and under execution across India.
