San Francisco, October 7, 2026: NVIDIA and Microsoft are expanding their collaboration around AI agents on Windows PCs, combining new hardware with operating-system infrastructure designed to allow AI workloads to run locally and in the background.
At a Microsoft event in San Francisco, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella discussed the companies’ work to bring agent-based computing to Windows. Microsoft also announced the general availability of Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), an operating-system-level framework intended to let agents operate persistently while remaining subject to Windows security and management controls.
The companies also highlighted NVIDIA RTX Spark, a new category of Windows laptops and compact desktops designed for local AI workloads. Laptop preorders opened on October 7, with systems scheduled to become available on October 16. Compact desktop versions are expected to go on sale in November.
RTX Spark combines an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 cores and an NVIDIA Grace CPU with up to 20 cores. The system offers up to one petaflop of FP4 AI performance and up to 128GB of unified memory. Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI and Gigabyte are among the companies preparing systems based on the platform.
Microsoft also introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra, which is built around RTX Spark and offers up to 128GB of unified memory and up to a petaflop of AI computing performance.
For enterprise users, NVIDIA previewed DGX Station for Windows, bringing its GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop Superchip to a Windows-based deskside system. The machine provides 748GB of coherent memory and up to 20 petaflops of FP4 AI performance, allowing large AI models to be developed and run locally.
NVIDIA said DGX Station for Windows is intended to reduce the need for enterprise developers to maintain separate Windows and Linux environments for everyday applications and intensive AI development. Linux-based AI tools can still be accessed through Windows Subsystem for Linux.
The announcements mark another step in the companies’ effort to make local AI agents part of mainstream Windows computing, spanning consumer PCs, developer systems and enterprise workstations.
