During the Environment Day event in Delhi next month, Maruti Suzuki will introduce cars that run solely on ethanol, according to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. The action was taken soon after the government revived attention to alternative fuel technology by introducing new E30 ethanol blending rules.

Speaking at a function, Gadkari stated that the new flex-fuel cars will run entirely on bioethanol, which will lessen reliance on imported fossil fuels and reduce pollution. He pointed out that around 87% of India’s gas, diesel, and petrol needs are currently met by imports.

The minister also emphasized the government’s efforts to promote greener transportation options, such as electric vehicles, tractors, buses, and scooters. According to him, a number of automakers have already brought ethanol-compatible cars to the nation, including Toyota, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra.

According to Gadkari, ethanol-powered automobiles have reduced operating costs and can improve India’s energy security while assisting local farmers in producing biofuel.
