Atomgrid Launches Bengaluru R&D Centre for Chemical Industry

In an effort to take advantage of the global supply chain shift in the specialty chemicals industry toward China plus one, Atomgrid has opened a new research and development facility in Bengaluru.

Over the course of the next year, the facility—which presently employs 15 scientists—is anticipated to grow to 25 researchers. It will increase the company’s capacity for innovation and execution by concentrating on important areas including process development, route scouting, and knowledge transfer for commercial-scale manufacture.

With a focus on high-purity and economical solutions, the center will also develop patented techniques for active ingredients and specialized formulations suited to international markets. In response to changing global demand, it is made to cater to both regulated and unregulated markets.

The announcement comes after a ₹65.38 crore funding round to strengthen Atomgrid’s capacity for R&D and global expansion. The action demonstrates India’s expanding position as a hub for alternative manufacturing and innovation as multinational corporations expand their supply chains outside of China.

According to industry analysts, this development is a part of a larger trend that positions India as a major participant in the global value chain for specialty chemicals.
