Apple has opened a new Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston, offering free training and educational programmes to small and medium-sized businesses while expanding the company’s manufacturing operations at the same facility.
The new center is Apple’s second U.S. manufacturing learning site and is located within the Houston facility that is already producing and shipping the company’s advanced AI servers. Apple also plans to begin manufacturing Mac mini at the site later this year.
The Advanced Manufacturing Center is designed to give businesses, workers and students practical exposure to manufacturing technologies and processes. Participants can work with advanced factory equipment, interactive laboratories and other tools while learning how to identify and respond to production challenges.
Apple said the training covers processes similar to those used in manufacturing its products. The center also features technologies such as a holographic table and interactive factory-floor equipment intended to provide participants with a hands-on understanding of modern manufacturing operations.
The center’s opening was marked by a full-day programme involving Apple executives, government officials, community partners and the first group of small and medium-sized business leaders participating in the training.
Among those attending were U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Houston Mayor John Whitmire, U.S. Representative Christian Menefee and Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company had invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the Houston facility in less than nine months. During that period, the company established the factory, began production and shipped its first advanced AI servers from the site.
The opening of the center comes alongside Apple’s expansion of manufacturing activity in Houston. The facility is expected to begin producing Mac mini later in 2026, adding another product to the site’s manufacturing operations.
The company said the training initiative is intended to help American businesses build smart manufacturing capabilities by giving them access to equipment, expertise and practical learning opportunities.
The Houston center forms part of Apple’s wider efforts to expand advanced manufacturing capabilities in the United States while supporting skills development among workers and businesses.
