Osaka, Japan: Takeda has announced new Phase 3 clinical data showing that its investigational oral therapy, zasocitinib (TAK-279), delivered strong skin clearance outcomes in patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, including those with disease affecting the scalp, nails, palms and soles. The findings were presented at the 2026 American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Innovation Academy.
The latest analysis builds on previously reported results from the company’s pivotal LATITUDE PsO 3001 and 3002 Phase 3 studies. According to Takeda, the once-daily oral TYK2 inhibitor demonstrated consistent improvements across several high-impact areas of the body that are often among the most difficult to manage in psoriasis treatment.
For patients with scalp involvement, approximately 75% achieved clear or almost clear skin by week 16. The treatment also showed encouraging outcomes for palmoplantar psoriasis, with around 70% of patients reaching clear or almost clear skin on the hands and feet during the same period. In addition, zasocitinib produced statistically significant improvements in nail psoriasis, as measured by the Nail Psoriasis Severity Index (NAPSI), compared with placebo.
These findings complement the primary Phase 3 results announced earlier this year, where about 70% of patients receiving zasocitinib achieved clear or almost clear skin based on the static Physician Global Assessment (sPGA 0/1) at week 16. Improvements in PASI 75 responses were observed as early as week 4, with benefits continuing through week 24.
Takeda said psoriasis can affect different parts of the body in unique ways, and involvement of the scalp, nails, palms and soles often has a significant impact on daily activities and quality of life. The latest data reinforce the potential of zasocitinib to provide rapid and durable disease control across multiple disease presentations through a convenient once-daily oral treatment.
Zasocitinib remains an investigational medicine and has not yet received regulatory approval. Takeda continues to advance its clinical development programme as it seeks to expand treatment options for people living with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.
