Siemens Wins Pune Metro Propulsion Order from Titagarh Rail Systems

Pune: Siemens Limited has secured a contract from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited to supply advanced propulsion technologies for the Pune Metro Rail Project extension. The order strengthens domestic manufacturing capabilities and supports India’s expanding urban rail network through locally developed mobility solutions.

Siemens Limited has been awarded an order by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited to provide advanced propulsion systems and Train Control & Monitoring Systems (TCMS) for the Pune Metro Rail Project extension. The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply and warranty of key propulsion equipment for 12 metro trainsets, reinforcing the growing collaboration between the two companies in India’s urban transportation sector.

Under the agreement, Siemens will deliver traction converters, auxiliary converters, traction motors and its TCMS platform, which enables real-time monitoring, diagnostics and control of train operations. These technologies are intended to improve operational reliability, energy efficiency and overall fleet performance for the metro extension.

The project also aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. Manufacturing for the order will be carried out at Siemens’ facilities in Maharashtra, supporting regional production and strengthening the domestic supply chain for railway technologies. The company said the contract reflects its continued investment in developing indigenous engineering capabilities for India’s fast-growing metro market.

For Titagarh Rail Systems, the order adds to its expanding presence in passenger rolling stock manufacturing.
