New Delhi: Sarvam AI has unveiled Sarvam Edge, a brand-new on-device AI platform that operates directly on computers and smartphones without the need for cloud servers or internet access. Faster performance, more data privacy, and dependable AI capabilities on common consumer hardware are the goals of the program.
Sarvam Edge removes network latency and keeps user data offline by moving all AI inference to the device. The platform has translation, text-to-speech, and multilingual speech recognition models that are optimized for edge deployment. While the translation system allows bidirectional translation across 110 language pairings, including English, a single speech recognition model supports 10 main Indian languages with automatic language detection.
According to the company, the models are made to strike a compromise between accuracy, minimal memory utilization, and quick response times. This means that real-time transcription and almost instantaneous translation are possible without the need for specialized hardware.
Sarvam AI anticipates that by providing fully offline AI, Sarvam Edge will lessen reliance on constant cloud connectivity by supporting voice-driven apps, assistive technologies, and productivity solutions in industries including banking, education, and accessibility.
