Stellantis and Tata Motors will work together to build a new Jeep SUV that will be sold in both domestic and international markets, strengthening their collaboration.
According to reports, the future vehicle would employ Tata Motors’ new Argos platform, which also powers the next Tata Sierra, and will be positioned below the Jeep Compass in India. As part of Stellantis’ larger turnaround and export strategy, the SUV is probably going to target more than 50 foreign markets.
According to industry reports, the new Jeep model might include a shared powertrain, such as Tata’s 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine. This would provide Jeep with a fuel choice in a market where the company presently has none in India.
It is anticipated that the partnership will greatly increase localization levels, assisting Stellantis in cutting expenses and setting a more competitive price for the new SUV in the Indian market. Additionally, the action can improve Jeep’s market share and sales figures in the nation.
For more than 20 years, Stellantis and Tata Motors have operated a joint venture in India, mostly concentrating on engineering and manufacturing activities.
