Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, bringing a fresh design, upgraded powertrain options and a more advanced digital experience to one of its most important vehicle lineups.
Scheduled to arrive later in 2026, the new Silverado continues Chevrolet’s long-standing focus on capability and durability while introducing substantial changes across its engine portfolio, interior technology and model range.
At the heart of the update are two next-generation V8 engines, a 5.7-litre and a 6.6-litre unit, joining the Silverado’s existing powertrain lineup. Chevrolet will also continue offering the enhanced 2.7-litre TurboMax engine and the 3.0-litre Duramax turbo-diesel, giving buyers four engine choices across the range. All powertrains will now be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The truck adopts a bolder exterior design with revised front-end styling, new LED lighting signatures and more pronounced body details. Chevrolet has also expanded its off-road offerings, with the lineup now featuring three lifted variants: Trail Boss, Custom Trail Boss and the flagship ZR2.
Inside, the Silverado receives one of its most noticeable upgrades. Every model will come equipped with a 16.3-inch centre touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital driver display as standard. Higher trims, including the ZR2 and High Country, add an 11.5-inch passenger display, creating a cockpit dominated by large digital interfaces.
Chevrolet has streamlined the range into seven trims: Work Truck, Custom, Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, ZR2 and High Country. The company said the revised lineup is intended to offer buyers a wider choice of configurations suited to work, recreation and premium driving needs.
Production of the 2027 Silverado 1500 will take place at GM’s full-size truck assembly facilities in North America. Pricing, performance figures and detailed capability specifications are expected to be announced closer to the truck’s market launch later this year.
For Chevrolet, the latest Silverado represents a significant evolution of a model that has been a cornerstone of its truck business for decades. By combining new-generation V8 power, expanded off-road capability and a technology-rich interior, the company is positioning the Silverado for the next phase of competition in the full-size pickup segment.
