Through five significant agreements centered on renewable energy, offshore wind, sustainability, geosciences, and academic cooperation, India and Norway have deepened their partnership in science and innovation. On May 18, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Norway, the agreements were inked in Oslo.

Leading Norwegian institutions, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) are involved in the agreements, according to the Ministry of Science & Technology. The partnerships seek to increase cooperative research, innovation, technology development, and capacity building between the two nations.

In order to boost collaborative R&D initiatives, workshops, and researcher exchanges in fields like climate, health, renewable energy, and oceans, DSIR/CSIR and Norway’s Research Council signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding. Additionally, CSIR inked contracts for projects pertaining to offshore wind, the circular economy, carbon capture, and green technologies with SINTEF and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Further enhancing India-Norway collaboration in sustainable technology and innovation, CSIR-NGRI collaborated with Emerald Geomodelling to provide geoscience-based infrastructure solutions.
