Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, on Wednesday said a potential exit of the United Arab Emirates from OPEC or OPEC+ could prove to be a “net positive” for India.
At the Economist Impact Resilient Futures Summit in New Delhi, Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, stated that India’s strong geopolitical ties with the UAE may provide strategic advantages if the UAE exits OPEC or OPEC+.
He emphasized the need of energy availability for economic resilience, especially in the face of global shocks like conflicts and market volatility. Adani emphasized India’s energy demands, pointing out that per capita consumption remained below global levels, and the country may need to add over 2,000 GW of capacity over the next 20 years.
He pushed for a diverse energy mix, including renewables, hydro, thermal, and nuclear, to assure stability and affordability, emphasizing the significance of electrification and minimizing reliance on imports.
Adani further stated that ongoing governmental support and infrastructural development have created a favorable climate for increasing investments, which will be critical for India’s long-term prosperity.
