New Delhi, India: The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with PhonePe and Shell India Pvt. Ltd. to expand support for DPIIT-recognised startups and encourage innovation across key sectors.
The agreements were signed on August 19 and are intended to improve startups’ access to technology, digital infrastructure, mentorship, market opportunities and industry networks.
Under its agreement with DPIIT, PhonePe will offer eligible startups transaction credits through its Payment Gateway, access to the Indus AppStore and dedicated onboarding and support services. The partnership will also provide opportunities for greater brand visibility.
PhonePe is additionally expected to conduct regular masterclasses and webinars covering areas such as fintech, sales, go-to-market strategies and business scaling. The sessions are aimed at helping startups strengthen their business capabilities and expand their operations.
The partnership with Shell India will focus specifically on startups working in the energy and climate-tech sectors. The company will provide mentorship and strategic guidance, along with investor and incubator connections.
Eligible startups will also have opportunities to participate in Shell’s E4 Smart Energy Track. The initiative is intended to help businesses develop and scale solutions related to the energy sector and India’s clean energy transition.
The Shell India collaboration will also support knowledge-sharing across the energy and climate-tech ecosystem. Planned activities include sectoral success stories, white papers, policy briefs, industry landscape reports and case studies covering emerging technologies, innovations and industry practices.
DPIIT said the two partnerships will broaden startups’ access to digital tools, industry expertise, mentorship, market connections and investment opportunities. The collaborations are expected to support sustainable business growth and innovation while contributing to India’s wider economic and technological development.
