Mumbai, August 19, 2026: IDFC FIRST Bank has raised US$500 million through its first international bond issuance, marking the private sector lender’s entry into the global debt capital markets.
The bank, acting through its IFSC Banking Unit at GIFT City, priced and allocated three-year fixed-rate senior notes due in 2029. The notes carry a fixed coupon of 5.625% and were offered to investors outside the United States under Regulation S.
The transaction comes days after S&P Global Ratings assigned the bank a ‘BBB-’ long-term issuer credit rating with a Stable outlook on August 13, 2026. The bond issue was anchored by institutional investors including BlackRock, Capital Group and AllianceBernstein.
IDFC FIRST Bank said the transaction will expand its funding base and provide an additional channel for raising capital internationally. The bank has focused in recent years on expanding its retail deposit franchise, strengthening its balance sheet, improving profitability and maintaining asset quality, while continuing investments in technology, distribution and customer service.
Sudhanshu Jain, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Centre at IDFC FIRST Bank, said the strong participation from global institutional investors reflected increased recognition of the bank’s financial position and progress in recent years. He said the transaction would diversify the bank’s funding sources and widen its access to international capital markets.
BofA Securities acted as the sole placement agent for the issue.
As of June 30, 2026, the bank had 39 million customers and a customer business of Rs 6,04,776 crore, comprising deposits of Rs 2,99,405 crore and loans and advances of Rs 3,05,370 crore. Customer deposits had grown 16.6% year-on-year, while loans and advances increased 20.6% during the period.
The bank operates 1,155 branches and has a presence across more than 60,000 cities, towns and villages.
