Volkswagen Group-owned software specialist e.solutions has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with HCLTech to accelerate the development of next-generation automotive infotainment and connectivity platforms built on Android Automotive.
HCLTech and e.solutions GmbH, a Germany-based automotive software company that is part of the Volkswagen Group, have announced a long-term collaboration focused on advancing software-defined vehicle technologies and digital in-car experiences. The partnership will support the development of future infotainment and connectivity platforms as automakers increasingly invest in connected mobility and software-centric vehicle architectures.
Under the agreement, HCLTech will contribute to the development, integration and validation of production-grade human-machine interface (HMI) software for multiple vehicle programs. The software is intended to operate across different hardware configurations and global markets, helping ensure consistency in digital cockpit experiences across vehicle platforms.
A key focus of the engagement will be the expansion of AI-enabled infotainment and connectivity systems based on Android Automotive. The companies aim to address growing demand for connected and digitally enhanced in-vehicle experiences, an area that has become increasingly important for automotive manufacturers as vehicles evolve into software-defined platforms.
The partnership is expected to strengthen e.solutions’ efforts to scale software development across a broader range of vehicle programs while maintaining uniform quality and user experience standards. For HCLTech, the agreement expands its presence in the automotive engineering and mobility technology sector, where software, connectivity and artificial intelligence are becoming critical differentiators.
Uwe Reder, CEO of e.solutions, said the collaboration would help the company expand HMI software development capabilities while supporting future digital cockpit innovation. Pankaj Tagra, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Mobility at HCLTech, stated that the company would leverage its AI-led engineering expertise and automotive sector experience to help accelerate the development of advanced infotainment platforms.
The announcement highlights the automotive industry’s growing emphasis on software-defined vehicles, where connected services, intelligent interfaces and over-the-air capabilities are becoming central to the driving experience.
