Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has entered into a partnership with Animation Express for the Anime India 2026 convention series, marking a move to engage younger audiences through one of the country’s largest anime-focused events.
Toyota announced on June 5 that it will collaborate with Animation Express for Anime India 2026, a multi-city event celebrating anime, manga, gaming and Japanese popular culture. The partnership is aimed at connecting with Gen Z and young millennial audiences through experiential activities and themed showcases.
The first event under the collaboration will take place in New Delhi on June 6-7 at Yashobhoomi. The Delhi edition will feature a J-pop concert by Japanese singer Yurika and the India debut of Japanese voice actor Inoue Kazuhiko, known for voicing the character Kakashi in the anime series Naruto.
As part of its presence at the event, Toyota will display three vehicles — the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Toyota Glanza and Urban Cruiser Taisor — across dedicated exhibition areas. The company said visitors will be able to participate in activities including a spin-the-wheel contest, a stamp rally and quiz-based engagements at the main Toyota booth.
The vehicles showcased at the convention will feature special wraps inspired by the anime franchise Attack on Titan, reflecting the event’s focus on Japanese entertainment and fan culture.
Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President for Sales, Service and Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company views Anime India as an opportunity to engage with a community that values creativity, self-expression and contemporary pop culture. He added that the collaboration is intended to create experiences that resonate with younger consumers while strengthening connections with anime enthusiasts across the country.
Anime India has emerged as one of the country’s prominent ticketed anime conventions. According to the organisers, the event has attracted more than 60,000 Gen Z attendees across its previous two editions, bringing together fans, cosplayers, creators and international industry participants.
The partnership reflects Toyota’s broader efforts to explore new platforms for engaging with evolving consumer communities and younger audiences in India.
