Saudi Arabia intercepts drones heading towards Shaybah oilfield

The conflict between US-Israel and Iran continues to escalate, the UAE has sounded alerts over a fresh barrage of missiles from Iran. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia also intercepted two drones heading towards Shaybah oilfield. Amid the tensions, Iraq has stated that its airspace and land will not be used to launch an attack on its neighbouring countries. Hours after this remark from the Iraqi PM, a US embassy camp near Baghdad International Airport was hit in a drone attack.

UAE says targeting ‘unwarranted’

The United Arab Emirates said it was being targeted “in a very unwarranted manner” during the war. The Gulf nation also said it would “not partake in any attacks against Iran”, which has carried out strikes on its Arab neighbours it sees as allies of the United States.

“The UAE does not seek to be drawn into conflict or escalation,” said Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva.

Trump warns against mining in Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran against laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz. In a Truth Social post, the US president warned Iran of “military consequences on a level never before seen” if mines were found in the vital strait. He further urged Iran to remove any mines it may have installed and move “towards the right direction”.

Iran targets Gulf energy installations

Iran carried out new strikes on energy facilities in the Gulf, including a petroleum complex in Bahrain. Oil prices jumped amid fears that the war could disrupt supplies.

Bahrain’s large Al Ma’ameer oil facility was struck, leading to a fire and damage. The country’s state-owned energy company Bapco declared force majeure, becoming the latest Gulf producer to activate the legal provision.
