ONGC Begins Gas Production from Daman Offshore Project in Arabian Sea

An important step in India’s quest to increase domestic energy output has been taken with the start of commercial gas production from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s Daman Upside Development Project (DUDP) in the Arabian Sea.

The project, which is roughly 180 kilometers northwest of Mumbai, was created at a cost of nearly $1 billion. The Hazira facility in Gujarat is receiving gas from the recently operational B-12-24P platform.

According to ONGC, the project was finished in less than two years, demonstrating effective execution and cutting-edge drilling methods. Phased increases in production will be implemented across several wells.

The move coincides with India’s efforts to lessen its dependency on imported natural gas in light of the world’s energy concerns. Nearly half of the nation’s gas needs are currently met by imports.

In the future, ONGC intends to increase exploration in important offshore locations, such as the Andaman and Krishna-Godavari basins. In order to increase productivity and maximize resources, the corporation has also teamed up with Reliance Industries for deep-water exploration.
