Mahindra Group on February 6, 2026, announced plans to set up its largest integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, marking a major expansion of its domestic manufacturing footprint. The announcement was made at the Advantage Vidarbha event, aimed at promoting the region as a growing industrial hub.
The group will invest ₹15,000 crore over the next decade to develop the facility on a 1,500-acre site in Vidarbha. In addition, a 150-acre supplier park will be established in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to support component sourcing and logistics for the new plant, as well as Mahindra’s existing facilities in Chakan and Nashik.
Production is expected to start in 2028 at the Nagpur factory, which would have an annual capacity of more than 5 lakh automobiles and 1 lakh tractors once it is operational. In addition to supporting Mahindra’s next-generation platforms, the automotive division will be able to produce vehicles with internal combustion engines, electric drives, and cutting-edge technology. The architecture of the plant will prioritize sustainability, digital manufacturing, and advanced automation.
In order to increase engine and advanced technology capabilities, Mahindra will also purchase property in the Igatpuri–Nashik area, bringing its total land acquisition in Maharashtra to more than 2,000 acres. It is anticipated that the project will increase industrial growth in Vidarbha and create a large number of jobs.
