Mahindra and HPCL Collaborate to Develop India’s EV Charging Network

On March 20, 2026, the Mahindra Group’s EV charging division Charge_iN announced a partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to expedite the deployment of EV charging infrastructure throughout India.

The deal calls for the installation of EV charging stations at HPCL’s vast network of more than 24,400 fuel retail locations. The project will concentrate on placing 180 kW dual-gun DC fast chargers, mostly intended for electric four-wheelers, at strategic urban and highway areas.

Under the HP e-Charge network, HPCL now runs over 5,400 EV charging stations. The partnership seeks to increase public charging accessibility, which is a crucial component affecting EV adoption and long-distance travel in the nation.

The alliance is anticipated to take use of HPCL’s high-traffic retail footprint for a staged expansion of charging infrastructure, given the constantly increasing demand for EVs. Nevertheless, neither the total number of chargers planned nor a deployment timetable have been revealed by the corporations.

The action is in line with India’s larger efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote cleaner mobility.
