IndiGo Extends Flight Cancellations to Central Asia and Caucasus Cities Until February 11

In response to rising tensions in Iran and safety concerns, IndiGo announced on Tuesday that it will continue to cancel flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, and Tashkent until February 11, 2026. 

The airline stated in its travel advice that passenger and crew safety is its top concern and that it is adopting a cautious, proactive approach. “We have made additional changes to the schedule of some flights in light of developments surrounding Iran. IndiGo has cancelled flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, and Tashkent until February 11, 2026, according to the airline.  

The announcement comes after IndiGo suspended flights on these itineraries on January 26, 27, and 28. These services normally use Iranian airspace, but the airline is currently avoiding it due to the changing security situation, according to airline officials.  

Typically, flights from India to these destinations take 6 to 7 hours. According to authorities cited by PTI, IndiGo uses A320neo aircraft on certain routes with limited range and fuel capacity, making it challenging to take longer detours around restricted airspace.  

Following widespread protests that began in late December over economic hardship and currency weakness, the situation in Iran has remained unstable. Tensions in the region have escalated due to instability, and airspace safety has come under greater scrutiny.  

IndiGo stated that it is still keeping a close eye on the situation and would provide passengers with updates as needed. In accordance with the airline’s policy, impacted passengers are offered options such as rescheduling or reimbursement.
