India to Host Major Global AI Summit in February 2026, Over 100 Countries Expected

India will host one of the world’s largest artificial intelligence summits from February 15 to 20, 2026, with participation expected from more than 100 countries, a senior government official said on Sunday.

S. Krishnan, Secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), said invitations have been sent to around 140 countries, with several already confirming their participation. The summit is expected to bring together over 100 global AI leaders, including chief scientific officers, senior technology executives, leading academics and policy thinkers.

Krishnan said the scale of participation has grown significantly since the inaugural edition of the summit, which saw 27 countries take part. The number rose to over 100 countries during the France edition, and India expects even broader engagement when it hosts the event next year.

The summit will be accompanied by an extensive series of related events. More than 310 pre-summit events have already been held globally over the past 140 days, averaging more than two events a day across multiple locations. During the summit week, nearly 800 parallel events are expected to take place.

The government said the summit will serve as a key platform to shape global discussions on the impact, governance and future direction of artificial intelligence.
