Greaves Electric Mobility to Launch Sixth-Generation Ampere Scooter in FY27, Targeting Sub-₹1 Lakh Segment

With plans to introduce its sixth-generation Ampere electric scooter in FY27, Greaves Electric Mobility (GEML) is directly targeting the high-volume sub-₹1 lakh market that is dominated by petrol scooters.

Due to cost, entry-level consumers who currently favor internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters are the target market for the future model. The business claims that the new Ampere scooter will prioritize features that will compete with gasoline-powered options in the same price range, as well as enhanced performance and reduced operating expenses.

According to GEML, the sixth-generation scooter is designed to provide more torque than similar internal combustion engine scooters, enhancing its capacity for acceleration and load carrying. Stronger gradeability is also anticipated, which will improve performance on flyovers and inclines.

According to the business, the electric scooter could cut operating costs by as much as 50% when compared to scooters that run on gasoline. In addition to supporting home charging, the car is probably going to have capabilities like reverse mode and less maintenance.

With over-the-air upgrades and connected features like AI/ML-based systems and remote diagnostics, the scooter will be a software-defined product. As the launch date approaches, particular features and costs should be anticipated.
