Google Introduces Free Offline AI Dictation App “AI Edge Eloquent”

Transcription Google has released a new AI-powered dictation app called “Google AI Edge Eloquent,” which is intended to make writing and transcription tasks easier. It is free to use and has offline functionality, so it can be accessed without an internet connection. Based on Google’s Gemma-based automatic speech recognition (ASR) models, the app offers real-time transcription and automatically refines text by eliminating words like “um,” “Formal,” “Short,” and “Long” to improve usability.
Users can turn off cloud mode for better privacy because the program offers on-device processing. It enables users to add own terminology and integrates with Gmail to identify frequently used terms. It also keeps track of transcribing history, including speaking speed and word count.
The program, which is currently accessible on iOS, is anticipated to spread to Android, where it can serve as a keyboard tool for the entire system.
Additionally, Google announced Gemma 4, an open AI model that offers developers robust and adaptable AI capabilities and is intended to run locally on devices.
