Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has released its Sustainability Report 2026, outlining the company’s environmental, social and governance initiatives across sustainable mobility, resource management, workforce development and community programmes.
The report was unveiled in Bengaluru on September 29 by Karnataka Forest, Ecology & Environment Minister Ramalinga Reddy in the presence of B. Padmanabha, Senior Executive Vice President, Manufacturing, and other TKM executives. The report is themed “Progress that Powers Everyone” and focuses on the company’s sustainability efforts and their impact on people and the environment.
In mobility, TKM said it is pursuing a multi-pathway approach that includes hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, hydrogen technologies and alternative fuels. The company said its hybrid vehicles represent nearly 80% of hybrids sold in India. It has also expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the Urban Cruiser Ebella, its first battery electric vehicle in the Indian market.
The report highlighted environmental measures at TKM’s manufacturing operations. The company has used 100% renewable electricity at its manufacturing facilities for five consecutive years, which it said has eliminated Scope 2 emissions from those operations. Since FY13, TKM has avoided more than 594,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, while over 95% of manufacturing waste has been recycled. More than 90% of its water requirements are met through recycling and rainwater harvesting.
On workforce development, TKM reported that training initiatives through the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), along with partnerships involving more than 120 Industrial Training Institutes and over 30 Government Tool Rooms and Training Centres, have reached more than 1,40,000 young people.
The company also reported an investment of more than ₹1,047 million in community development initiatives during FY2025-26. Its programmes cover areas including education, healthcare, sanitation, water conservation, road safety, livelihoods and environmental restoration. According to TKM, these initiatives have impacted more than 7.4 million people since inception, including over 600,000 students.
The report also links TKM’s sustainability strategy with manufacturing investment, supply-chain localisation, skill development and future mobility technologies as part of its broader “Grow India, Grow with India” vision.
