Dhruva Space, ICEYE Sign Partnership to Explore Satellite Manufacturing and Earth Observation Opportunities

Indian space technology company Dhruva Space and Finland-based Earth observation firm ICEYE have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at exploring collaboration across satellite manufacturing, space systems production, Earth observation services and ground infrastructure projects in India and international markets.

The companies announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 17 during Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France. The agreement establishes a framework for evaluating joint opportunities spanning spacecraft development, manufacturing, data services and downstream applications.

Under the proposed collaboration, the two firms will assess the potential for jointly developing and manufacturing satellite buses and other space systems for domestic and overseas programmes. They will also examine opportunities to scale production of space components and subsystems from India, drawing on Dhruva Space’s expanding manufacturing capabilities and its planned 280,000-square-foot Assembly, Integration and Testing facility. The facility is expected to support larger-scale production of critical space hardware and serve global demand.

The partnership also focuses on expanding access to Earth observation data and analytics. Through Dhruva Space’s AstraView platform, users could gain access to ICEYE’s synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation, enabling all-weather imaging services for government agencies and commercial customers.

Beyond manufacturing and data services, the companies intend to explore applications in disaster management, agriculture, maritime surveillance and climate monitoring. They will also evaluate the use of Dhruva Space’s ground station network to improve data accessibility, increase downlink capacity and support Ground Station as a Service offerings.

Commenting on the agreement, executives from both companies highlighted opportunities to combine India-based manufacturing capabilities with advanced Earth observation technologies and data services. The collaboration will proceed on a project-by-project basis, allowing both organisations to identify initiatives that could support India’s growing space ecosystem while addressing international market requirements.

The announcement was made at Bharat Innovates 2026, a three-day event focused on strengthening links between Indian and European innovation ecosystems and promoting cooperation in deep-tech sectors, including space and advanced manufacturing.
